LAUREN STAMBAUGH, RECRUITMENT AND MARKETING VP, AC '16

I cannot believe Recruitment starts TOMORROW. What a summer it has been. 5 days after moving out of the ADPi hall I got on a plane and left for a maymester in Florence, Italy for 5 weeks. Oh, and let me tell you, Florence is a DREAM. I traveled with four other girls, one of them being one of my best friends in ADPi. We lived in an apartment overlooking the Ponte Vecchio, one of Florence’s most famous bridges, and ate more than enough gelato, pasta, and pizza. While we were abroad we traveled to the countryside of Tuscany, Venice, Rome, Cinque Terre, Positano and the Amalfi Coast, as well as the South of France. The amount of times I have gone back to look at pictures wishing I was still there is more than I can count. As soon as I got back from Europe I got on another plane for a family vacation to the Cayman Islands. Let’s just say it’s been a summer I will never forget, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Although my summer was filled with so many fun adventures, it was also filled with work too.

After all of my traveling, I went back to work at my Social Media Marketing job with SERVPRO of West Greenville County and back to working on getting anything and everything together for recruitment. I am the Recruitment and Marketing Vice President for Alpha Delta Pi, and have loved every minute of it. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the recruitment process, and I owe a lot of that to Alpha Delta Pi.

Why ADPi…that is something that is so hard to put into words, but is something that I have felt from the very first time I walked into an Alpha Delta Pi recruitment round. Throughout rounds I could tell the girls in Alpha Delta Pi were confident, outgoing, genuine people who I could see myself getting along with. Opening the envelope on bid day and reading the words Alpha Delta Pi across the paper was the best feeling, and that feeling has not gone away since. I still get chills thinking about that moment.

Alpha Delta Pi has been one of the biggest blessings I have experienced in college. It is a place where girls push you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. I have found some of the best role models and leaders in Alpha Delta Pi.  Without the girls in Alpha Delta Pi and their constant encouragement, I don’t think I would have wanted to be the Recruitment and Marketing Vice President. I have also found my ABSOLUTE best friends in ADPi, and I know for a fact we will still be friends 20 years from now.  The amount of times we just sat in someone’s room on the hall, staying up until 3 AM, laughing until we cried, are too many times to count. When I am having the absolute worst day, they are the people I go to to make it better. They are always down to close down the dance floor at every function, find a dog to play with, go on a Spill the Beans ice cream run, order pizza at 1 in the morning, or just sit in the chapter room on a rainy day and watch movies. From formal to big/little reveal to Mallard Ball to living on the hall with these girls, I have enjoyed every minute of it.

In Alpha Delta Pi you will find girls who strive to be themselves, who encourage you to be the best version of yourself, and who are always there for you. You will find your lifelong friends, who make saying goodbye for 3 months in the summer extremely hard. With all of this being said I cannot imagine my college experience without Alpha Delta Pi. Although I am extremely sad to be halfway done with college and my time with these girls, I know that their friendships are longer than just these 4 years. I will forever be thankful for Alpha Delta Pi and the encouragement, sisterhood, leadership, and loyalty it has brought into my life.

I cannot wait to start recruitment tomorrow and to show 1,069 Potential New Members why Alpha Delta Pi is so great and truly one of a kind!
